Acorns Preschool
Roughton

Acorns Preschool Roughton has been established for over 25 years. It is operated in the grounds of St Mary’s Endowed Primary School. We are a charitable organisation which is solely managed by a Committee.

The primary purpose of the preschool is to provide quality care and early education through play from age 2 to school age.

This is achieved with our dedicated team of qualified staff who work in conjunction with the EYFS guidelines. At Acorns Preschool we believe that learning is best achieved through play and we provide many different activities to suit your childs individual interests. This includes indoor and outdoor activities. We encourage as much outside play as possible, including woodland learning.

Our Aims

To maintain and keep providing high quality childcare with a happy atmosphere within a safe, secure and stimulating environment.

To encourage the development of self-esteem and independence which will help children to make a natural transition to reception class.

To ensure each child is supported in developing their potential at their own pace by means of developmentally appropriate play activities and a high level of individual adult input.

To provide activities and experiences that are planned to meet their individual stages of development within the early year’s foundation stage.

To always look at ways to improve and update the environment, layout, equipment and resources available within the preschool.

To always ensure that safeguarding requirements are being met and that staff and committee continue to keep up to date with any training within these areas.

Our Mission

Acorns Preschool Roughton encourages each child to develop and flourish in a happy, supportive and secure environment, enabling them to be confident, challenged, and successful and to have high self-esteem. We work in partnership with parents and local advisors to understand and provide the highest quality childcare for each child.

We embrace the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and apply the four key themes; unique child, positive relationships, enabling environments, and learning and development to the basis of our approach to early learning and development. We also develop the characteristics of effective learning.
